Murder's Diary

Author's Note: Acceleration is about a boy who found a murder's diary. Duncan must find the guy quickly before the victim is killed

Duncan found the diary laying in his messy closet under all of his hockey pads. The books dark secret has to be uncovered. The murder still has to be out there and still lethal. Duncan took the book to a restaurant and started reading the book with a cup of coffee. He grabbed the newspaper to see if any of the three victims where killed. In relief Duncan had not seen and deaths. The boy flipped the page of the news paper, he had found a county map that might be useful. In a flash Duncan might know who it is.

Holding the diary in his hands he rand up Williams street and turned the corner. Running as fast as he can go he finally got to his destination. The door was locked but with his luck he unlocked the door in one twist. Duncan has found the murder. The crazy man was watching horror movies. Duncan slowly walked out and called the cops. The cops were at the house in minutes.

This was my prediction of the book Acceleration. I think that Duncan will do that because he is an outgoing guy and always curious. In the middle of the book Duncan wants to get the murder. Duncan worked on the clue for weeks and even tried to fit in his shoe.

Medieval Knights

Author's note: To become a medieval knight took hard work and determination.

When people think of the Middle-ages, the first thing that often comes to mind is knights. They wore heavy armor, rode strong swift horses, and fought for the king with their lives. What was the life like as a  medieval knight?

Knights were trained to defend the castle, the kingdom, and most importantly the king. They were  like our modern day military. From the time they were young, they were sent to train with other knights and there they were taught all about fighting. There were three types of medieval fighters : knights, archers and foot soldiers. The knight was for close quarter battles against foot soldiers  and the archer was for long distance combat.  Knights had the advantage over foot soldiers and archers because of their heavy armor.

To become a knight you had to be from a wealthy noble family and be bright. You had to be able to buy your own armor, horses, and weapons, which is like buying a plane now. Most knights were trained at age eight  when their family sent them to live with an older trained knight. They did simple things at first, like learn to ride horses, body build, and learn how to use weapons and work hard. At the age fifteen they gained knowledge of elder knight by cleaning armor, caring for horses, and learned advanced fighting skills.

Knights had heavy armor and heavy weapons. They carried  a  large battle sword with their left hand and a knife on their right. The armor weighed about 50 - 60 pounds in all, mostly because they wore many different layers.  Linen shirt, chain mail, heavy pants, woolen pads, metal armor. The knight's chain mail had more the 200,000 individual rings which took years to make. Some of the different types of weapons the knight used were the lance, sword, battle hammers, axes, maces and many more.

Knights lived by the code of conduct called chivalry. This was a vow to protect the weak,  helpless and for the general good of all. If a knight were to disobey this they could get expelled depending on the trial. Chivalry influenced social behaviors hundreds of years after knight's no longer existed. For example it tells us how a gentleman should behave today.

The knights responsibilities were difficult and challenging to overcome. Succeeding meant fame and honor to the society around them. There was danger and glory as a knight, but today we remember how they lived and learn from them.  Knights played an important role to many countries in the middle ages and now live in our own code of conduct all over the world.

The Founding Fathers

Author’s Note:  Have you ever wished to ask the founding fathers what they did wrong, or right.

"Jack step into that door, I dare you!" I hesitated to step into the red velvet looking room. But something in my mind said to go. I walked slowly into the wicked contraption. Turned around and closed the door.  I saw a dial that had numbers. I turned the dial as if it were a locker combo. WASSAHHAAAWWAH. The noise was getting louder and scary. I turned the golden plated door knob. I was in a different world.

It was misty, smelly, and dark. Horses and carriages were roaming the street. I looked to my left shoulder and saw a white building. "This building look familiar." I softly whisper. There was a person coming from the corner of the building. So I quickly ran to the building and went inside. The hall way was huge. Every step I made, echoed making a voice. I walked slowly into the dark creepy hallway. I Could start to see light. The closer I got to the light, the louder a voice I heard.

I was standing on a balcony fifty feet above fifty five men. The men had white curly hair, white powdered faces. They were talking about laws and politics. “Ugh not my thing”  I yelled not thinking. One of the guys looked up and saw my bright cherry face. The man looked at his friends and started to talk. I was relieved that they didn’t find me. But just as I was about to walk away the guy told me to come closer.

Slowly I walked down red carpeted stairs. I got there and I looked scared, I just realized the I’m in the past. The white faced man looked at me and when I saw his face up close knew that is was George Washington. I tried to say hi but I stuttered on my dry chapped lips. George and his friend were writing the constitution.  I said that I was from the future. Like in the movies the guy has a cheesy laugh, so did George Washington. Just before I was going to explain my IPod started to play music. He asked what is playing the loud, exasperating noise. My IPod was cold as ice but I handed the device to him. George started to poke at it but I laughed as if it was a hilarious joke. Everyone in the room wanted to touch the device. “Wow kid you are from the future, so what do you want?” asked George.

“There is some things that are wrong from 2012. People still treat African Americans  wrong.” They all laughed a one guy said “Those people deserve to be slaves.” I looked madly at that guy. I wanted to throw a punch at him, but I realized that this is no laughing matter. “Has your mother  ever told you to treat other people equally, Mr. George Washington?”he looked worried. He looked defeated. “Well yes but” I quickly cut him off. “ How would it feel to be treated the differently? Be a slave and no one cares to think twice before they beat you with whips? Just before he was going to talk a dark blue hole appeared in the wall. I got sucked into the portal like thing

Black walls filled the air. It smelted as if I was next to a hot dog stand, glorious chilly dogs and hamburgers. Now the smell was gone. The walls started to fill up with hourglass pictures filling sand.
I felt like I was in a computer trying to reboot. I all vanished in the blink of an eye. I was in a really cool room. It had baseballs, football jerseys, posters. It was a sports freak dream. I walked out of my room and saw my mother in a pink and baby blue dress. “Hey Hun how are you doing” Said my mother looking ecstatically. I said “good” and walked down to door. I opened my door and walked out to see a wonderful place. It was like a wonder land with snow. The snow was so cold I could feel my heart freeze for a second.  I walked half a mile down the street and went to the gas station,  but it wasn’t there. I was hungry so I remembered there might be a McDonald, but that means going into the dirty ghetto part.

The more I walked the prettier the houses. There were many African American kids playing in the snow. I slowly stopped an thought this isn’t ghetto. I felts a foam football hit me and a ten year old kid said sorry. I just laughed and asked were the nearest McDonald was. The kid said “Down the corner of Maple Street.” He waddled away in his overstuffed jacket and snow pants.  Snow was covering the top of my shoes and I began to jog to Maple Street. I walked into the building and ordered food. It was about Five o’ Clock when I got home. I thought hard and strong and realized that I changed the world for everyone. Cheerfully I skipped to my room to play my game system.

Cause And Effect

Authors Note: Cause and effect is something the happened in a story. If you could change it what do you think would happen. I did this on the book called "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson.

The book Speak had big cause and effect. The main character Malinda faces a struggle in her life. Something bad happened very bad to her and she doesn't want to tell anyone. if she tells someone no on might believe her and make fun of her even more

This effect made the whole story. Melinda eventually tell a guy named David. If Melinda told the kids at school what happened the first day she would ether get picked on or people might believe her.

Conflict And Resolution

Authors Note: This was an assignment about conflict and resolution

Hunger games is a Person vs person Conflict. The main character Katness has to battle with people face to face. She has to fight for her life or die. The reason it's person vs person is because katness face people. It could also be person vs self. She as to battle against her fears of getting killed.

The resolution on the book is Katness hides from the people. Once some people find her she kills them and runs away. The other resolution is Katness faces her self. She was afraid of being killed of the one killing. Katness won the hunger games and got over the fear of killing people

Seed Story

Authors note: I rode my bike in the summer day. Something happened very bad.

It was a summer hot day. It was about noon when I started my race. I quickly race down the driveway on my old bike. I took a sharp turn, but with luck on my shoulders I manages to stay up. I pelted up the court and turned. I races down the small hill by my house. Taking and other sharp turn I fell off. I've been hit. I've been shattered. I've been slammed down. Looking now at my hand covered in gravel and blood, I pushed the bike off my scraped knees.

Horrified I looked at my friend. The stinging in my hands stated to happen so I ran in to my house. I ran down the dark hallway with my 4th grade picture hanging. I quickly wash my blood infested hands. I put multiple band-aids on my hands. I slowly walked down the hall. I opened the door and my hand stared to sting but i walked outside.

I looked more at my bike and hesitated but picked it up. I looked at my friend and he started to laugh. I pushed him aside and walked my bike to the back yard. I walked through the long grass and put my bike in the shed. i set the bike on the wall and walked out and looking at my bike for one last time. I Closed the big heavy white doors. i walked to the front yard but my friend wasn't there. I shrugged and walked inside and watch T.V.

Stinky The Parrot

Authors Note: Sometimes it takes bad events to make other things better.

“Stinky” I called to my Green Vosmaeri Eclectus, an Australian parrot. He flew next to me and landed the stair ledge. I patted his back and slightly smiled. The news wasn’t new but I had to leave Stinky for a couple months for a job. It was terrible timing because he was scheduled to go to an animal hospital for awhile and recover from a nasty disease that made him unable to fly.

Stinky and I flew in a private plane that my dad owns. We went to Tampa, Florida. This was an amazing journey for both of us. Seeing the towers, roller coasters, and beautiful beaches. Once we arrived at the
animal hospital I had to fly back at Kimble county, Texas.

Doctors wrote back telling me everything about what’s happening to Stinky. He was doing great till one day he just gave out. Doctors all thought he was dead. I flew back to Florida and quickly went to the hospital. I was hugging him and kissing him, hoping a miracle would happen. Just as I left the hospital I heard a flapping noise behind me.

I turned around happily thinking it was Stinky, But it was just a small red Violet-Necked Lory. I got onto the plane and began to fly. I fell over during the ascend, and found this square like figure. It was a cage with a Green Vosmaeri Eclectus bird in it. On the cage was a note that said “Stinky left the to bird paradise. We stuffed him for you.”

I cried quietly in my lap. 10 years later I opened a shop called “Parrot Stinky.” I sold many types of bird
species. Also sold bird toys and food. I became happy after my shop became very popular.

Bad events happen all the time but can change into good events.

Super Strength

Author’s Note: Is having super strength worth it. sometimes it’s good to be a little strong.

I was walking to my friends house. I tripped over this little crystal looking cube. Picking up the cube not thinking anything, my arm struck with pain. I quickly dropped the strange looking cube and walk away to my friends house.

It was five days later when things were starting to change. I went to my room and went to turn the lights on. I lightly tapped the switch but it can ripping right off. My parents came quickly running up the stairs after they heard the screams. Fastly I told them that i touched the switch but they didn't believe me.
School was getting very hard to do with my new super strength that got stronger. Writing a essay was hard, because when I wrote a word my lead on the pencil broke weak and flimsy. A pen held the strong hands, for a couple of days.

After school was out for summer I used the powers to help out people. Even stopping a robbery at the diamond store. I was the town hero and I loved that, but every things broke like sand in a clump.

Have super strength is great for helping others but sometimes being too strong will be hard for you to do other things.

The Three Wishes

Author’s note: Have you ever wanted three wishes? I wrote about the wishes I would do.

It was a bright sunny morning, with birds chirping and dogs barking. School had just ended for the summer. I was walking home as I looked to the left and saw a garage sale. there was a few bucks in my pocket so I went to check it out.

Old teddy bears, nicknacks, toys, and clothes were everywhere. A fancy looking lava lamp caught my eye. I was about to touch the lava lamp but someone stopped me. He looked hippy like with brown curly hair. The hippy told me not to touch the lamp. I looked at him and took the eight dollars out of my pocket and set it on the table. I quickly picked up the lamp and ran home.

I walked through the door of my new big house. My mom was cleaning in the front hall, and my dad
moving furniture. She asked me where I got the lava lamp. I told her I got it at a garage sale. Holding the lamp I ran up the stairs to my room. I set the lamp next to my bed on my dresser. Just as I was about the plug in the lamp there heard a dark, deep, heavy voice behind me.

I looked behind me and saw a man with golden clothes. As I screamed for my mom then the mysterious man held my mouth and quickly told me “you have three wishes, and choose wisely. if you want three wishes don't say anything.” My mom walked into the room right after the mysterious man disappeared.
I told my mom never mind and closed the door. After she left I shook the lava lamp and the man came back out. I told the man that I want to find one trillion dollars on the street. My second wish is that I have a time machine. last wish is I have a flying car.

Ten days after I wished for the three items they started happening. One trillion dollars was under the sewer but I got that out. The time machine was in an abandoned house and flying car came twenty years later when it was in a parking lot with keys in the car.

What would you do if you had three wishes?

Adventurous Loch

Loch, written by Paul Zindel.is a book full of adventure. The author, Paul Zindel, tells readers that when you adventure you have to be safe. Loch, the main character is a young teenage boy born in Scotland and raised in America. People always adventure out into wilderness and never come back

imagine a monster with horrifying eyes and sharp teeth. Loch and his family live near a lake with 7 creatures like this. When Loch was a young kid he found trouble in a little lake he lives by.

Loch has lots of problems he has to encounter. He faces problems with many creatures almost like the Lochness Monster. As a child most kids believe in mythical creatures like big foot, dragons, unicorns, and many more. The difference is that what Loch and everyone else sees is all very real in the book. When I was younger I also thought monsters and all these scary things were real.

Zaidee is the sister of Loch, and is a 5th grader. She faces deadly problems and is a dare devil. She lives with her dad and brother and they have al rough life in a trailer home. Luckily with really high tech devices they can go find amazing things. They have a lot of laptops, great boats and many drawings of creatures. Many people they would love to have high tech devices, but Loch's family doesn't just have them for fun, they need the devices to stay a live.

Catching a creature can be deadly and scary. Loch and his sister go out to a lake by their house, and find a friendly plesiosaur. Not only do they name the creature they practically own him. The name of the creature is,Wee Beastie. He is a young plesiosuar and his family are big and deadly. The creatures are clever and they trick people into getting close, so that they can hurt the people.

Paul Zindel tells all readers to have fun but be safe. Never go out on an adventure unless you know you are safe.

Drilling In Alaska

Author's note:Picture this, white fluffy snow on the trees, snowflakes falling with the wind. The animals roam with their families, and the blue sky soaring above them in a wild and
untouched landscape. Clouds as if they were marshmallows stuck in the sky by a little kid. That kind of beauty is now in danger of being overrun by oil companies drilling and turning clean soil into dark toxic mush. As a team, let’s try stopping this cause and help the animals.

There are 1.5 million acres of federal lands in the coastal plain Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, also known by it's shorter name as ANWR. Drilling in ANWR will only get an estimated guess of 16 billion barrels of oil. On average the world uses 21 billion of barrels of oil a day. America would only get about 9 months worth of oil from the drilling. If Congress were to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, crude oil prices would probably drop by an average of only 75 cents a barrel.

The problem with the drilling in the ANWR is that it will not only harm the land animals, but it will also harm all the marine animals that live in the refuge. So many of the birds we see in our own backyards, in all 50 states, and across six continents, begin their lives in the area were the drilling would be. The land will be torn up by heavy equipment for the building of roads, buildings, and oil lines. There is also a risk of a drilling disaster that could harm the animals and environment.

We need to find other energy sources for the future, so that we are not tearing up any more land, drilling in ocean floors, and shipping it overseas. Oil spills are dangerous and expensive to clean up. The more oil we drill for the more there is a risk of an accident happening. Renewable energy and clean energy are the future so we need to spend money researching that instead of searching for more oil.

America should not be drilling for oil in Alaska. It will probably take many years before enough of the oil is even ready for use. We need to protect the area for future generations and the animals that live there now. Let’s save Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge instead of tearing it up.

Out With The Toys

Author's Note:Being a toy has many disadvantages and many great advantages. The authors Emily Jenkins and Paul Zelinsky wrote the book Toys Go Out. This book has many comparisons to the movie Toy Story. Many books have main characters that are boring, but when you read this book they are all funny. This story got my imagination going.

Toys Go Out tells the readers that No matter how smart you are you have to be thinking and be ready. Authors Emily Jenkins and Paul Zelinsky tells young and older readers, it doesn’t matter how smart you are along as you use that in the right way.

There is a fun loving 6 year old girl that always takes her favorite stuffed animal to bed. Lumphy, the buffalo, and many other fellow stuffed animals get into problems that they need help getting out of. Just like in real life we get into problems we need helping getting out of. like parents help out there kids and sometimes other kids too. In the book one of the main characters gets stuck in a shoe but then he gets help getting out. A lot of adventures happen in this book.

Do you like going to the beach? Going to the beach can be a really fun, but as a toy there is a lot to think about like being stolen of broken. In the book one of the toys go to the beach. Plastic was her name. She was thrown in to the ocean and started to drift off. A dog came and grabbed her. As she was told it was a dogshark, but was just an type of dog. Dogshark came into the attack as if the ball was a predator. The ball pops and had just enough air to get to the family and get fixed. These toys always have a problem they have to fix.

Lumphy, the buffalo, has a big problem to get around. When he slept on the big bed, he realizes that he doesn’t like it up there. A red ribbon was tied to his tail. Just as he jump the tail got stuck and came off. Lumphy was startled when it was off then realized that he is a strong buffalo.

Main characters of books are mostly boring but when you read Toys go out you will surly like each character. Also the authors that wrote the book tells young and old readers that we can be very smart but us that in a bad way. Like as an adult we always have to be thinking a head and watching for the bad drivers.

A Kid With A Diary

Author’s Note: Almost everyone is lazy in the summer like not wanting to do chores. For most kids these days they want to play video games or play outside.

Jeff Kinney wrote the book Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days to tell us that summer can be bad or good depending how you act or what you do. The main character of the book is middle teen boy named Greg Heffery. What he encounters is always going to be bad news, and doing things he doesn't want to do like playing outside.

As most children want to play outside with friends during summer, Greg only wants to play video games and watch horror movies. Greg starts off the summer with a easy job. The thing Greg didn’t understand was what he had do. Forgetting about things can be good or bad. In the book Greg forgets about a animals. A bad thing about forgetting, sometimes happens to animals. Abusing animals can be very dangerous, but it is done everyday around the world. Animals can be lift in a car on a hot day while people go and swim.

Swimming is a fun thing to do on a hot day, but for Greg that’s not so fun. For Greg swimming is fun but to walk though the locker room is an awkward thing. Once you got thought the locker room with men half naked you’re going to be scared for life. At the local pool there is a life guard the Greg liked then found that she likes someone else. holidays could be a good time to get someone you like over for dinner.

Holidays are a great get together with family. One thing is that Greg has a big family and every holiday they sleep in a small house. Most of Greg's family are annoying so it’s hard for Greg to manage the yelling. Some families have nice parties and some have bad parties and for Greg his is bad. Now all Greg can wish is to have a normal family. real life families there is mostly the annoying family and if they sleep during the holidays it can be a real struggle.

Sleep is a good thing but over summer it just makes you lazy. Jeff Kinney wrote the book to make our summer better than Greg's summer. This book has some things that happened to the author when he was a kid. Go outside and play with friends and don’t be like Greg.

The Ladder For Jacob

Author's Note: Adventure and bravery are the two words for this book. There are nasty adventures and great adventures and you are the only one that can choose this. This great book tell real life problems while using a fiction character.

Jacob has encountered many problems in childhood that separated him from his parents and now he’s in a new world. Jacob came to the new world not knowing anything from the fatal past that brought him there. This new world had many missions for Jacob to discover the true meaning of the world. The author, Brian Keaney, wrote the action packed book Jacob’s Ladder to tell everyone that we all will have struggling times in our life that we need to fight through.

Jacob had found the meaning of the world that he lived in. Now Jacob has entered a deadly quest. The quest made Jacob excited to encounter the truth. There where two friends with Jacob to find the truth of the mystifying world they walked on.

Jacob got tricked in to going in to a cave. A man took his shoes and his socks. the cave was dark and scary.Jacob couldn’t see at all. Now Jacob was tricked in a blink of an eye. In real life people always get scammed like in the book Jacob got tricked. This happens to most people in their life. It’s a bad thing cause that happens to most old people, and then they get tricked into paying a lot of money for something that’s really cheap.

Everyone has a mountain to climb also known as having to be free and have a adventure for just yourself. Have you had an adventure? In the book Jacob went through a live or death adventure. He almost quit on him self but he look forward at the good the he will have when he will succeed. Jacob did get what he wanted and in the end did change his life to what he wanted. Brian Keaney wrote this book to tell us that we live one life and we should do what we want.

There was adventure in the book that made you think and see what the main character, Jacob saw. It’s hard to find interest in a book but, in Jacob’s Ladder there is adventure the first chapter. The book made you feel as if you where there in the book with Jacob.

Trudging Through The Snow

Frosty is the morning;(When I wake up the windows are all white with the frost of outside)
But the sun is bright,(Under the sun it's nice and warm felling)
Flooding all the landscape( The snow is all over the ground no green to see)
With its golden light.(The way the sun hit the snow)
Hark the sounds of laughter(Everyone is playing in the snow)
And the voices shrill!(The kids are laughing and all happy)
See the happy children(They can't wait to go sleding)
Coasting down the hill.(Going as fast as they can to go fat down the hill)
There are Tom and Charley,(Some kids that love the snow)
And their sister Nell;(Little Nell cant wait to go sleding)
There are John and Willie,(Freiend that came over to play)
Kate and Isabel -(The sisters that always fall)
Eyes with pleasure beaming,(Eyes are staring at the snow)
Cheeks with health aglow;(Everyone full of joy and energy)
Bless the merry children,(They will be outside for a long time)
Trudging through the snow!(Snow up to there knees)
Now I hear them shouting,(Made the coolest ramp in town)
"Ready! Clear the track!"(Testing the snow)
Down the slope they're rushing,(They made a good track)
Now they're trotting back.(Though the deep snow they keep going)
Full of fun and frolic,(They don't care if they're cold they have fun)
Thus they come and go.(Up the hill and down they hill they are alway moving)
Coasting down the hillside,(Now they're ready for hot chocolate)
Trudging through the snow.(In the deep snow they came back home)

The Quote

"he course of true love never did run smooth."

Author's Note: William Shakespeare is well known for his quotes. His quotes means many thing. What's your favorite quote from William Shakespeare?

This was written by William Shakespeare. To me this quote means that love has ups and downs. the really people that love eachother well fight but that's because they love eachother. the ones that dont have fight mostly mean that they don't care. Shakespeare wrote this to tell us that true love has consequenceses and you have to take it.

Marines

This picture of the marines makes me think about the future. I see the future as if I there in that time. In the future I see what I would look like and how I will act. The marines will always be my favorite branch of the military. When I think about the future i can always see my self flying in AC-130 or a hornet. My step dad was a marine and he always pushes me to do things.

Skate boarding

Author's Note:skate boarding is tricky but this can be fun too

Skate boarding was one of the favorite thing to do when I was little. I could do a alley and almost do a kick-flip. An alley is when you get the skate board up in the air. This is a jump. A kick-flip is when you to and alley and spin the board in a 360.

Cars

Author's Note: there are fast cars and slow cars but most are nice

Some cars vary from good looking cars to a first time driver car. Most modern cars can vary at the price of a couple hundred thousand dollars. As of right now the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is the fastest car that can hit 0-62 MPH in up to 2.4 seconds and 180 in under 15 seconds. This car can be very expensive to replace brakes and 4 set of tires. This is only one of many fast cars in the world. Just think when might there be a floating car that has no wheels?

Author's Note:The veryon is a very fast car and will there be a car that will beat that in 2012?
